Teaching Internships Summer 2025

Applications for 2025 teaching internships will open in December

Please check back here in November when a link to the online application will be provided.

If you are studying for a degree or a Masters and are passionate about your subject, we would like to show you what it’s like to be a teacher in a secondary school.

An internship will provide you with invaluable school and classroom experience and access to skilled teaching staff and subject mentors.

Our internship programme will run for three weeks – exact dates to be confirmed. You are expected to attend the full three weeks and will be paid £425 per week (£1,275 in total).

Internship Subjects

You will be interested in teaching one of the following subjects and be studying a related degree:

  • Chemistry
  • Computing
  • Languages (French and Spanish)
  • Maths
  • Physics

Why take part?

  • Get paid while learning what a career in teaching involves

  • Spend time shadowing teaching staff and receiving guided support from an experienced mentor

  • Gain valuable work experience and leave the internship with a reference from a professional organisation

  • Find out what teacher training options would be available when you graduate and meet current student teachers and early career teachers

This internship programme is coordinated by the New River Teaching Alliance (NRTA).  We also deliver outstanding university accredited postgraduate teacher training courses in a partnership of schools – with a view to trainees potentially working in our schools once they qualify.

Please note that this internship programme is part funded by DfE and they will need to collect and analyse data relating to this programme
