STEM CPD

Alexandra Park School leads the STEM learning North and East London Science learning partnership (SLP).  We combine local expertise in teaching and learning in science, facilitating CPD, and providing school-to-school support.

SLP’s across the country make up the national STEM Learning network

Our remit is to provide high quality science CPD for primary and secondary teachers as well as technicians, in the North and East London boroughs. We ensure that all our CPD is delivered either by active classroom practitioners or experts with recent classroom experience.

We deliver regular networks for Primary Science Leads, KS3, Secondary Science Postholders, KS5, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, ECT and, Technicians.

We regularly provide a range of training courses to meet the needs of colleagues in our area e.g. Taking science outdoors for primary science, Maths in science, and Physics for non-specialists.  We can tailor these courses to match the needs of schools in our area.

If requested, we can also deliver fully bespoke training to large groups e.g. MAT’s, Partnerships, and whole school insets, and also to smaller groups right down to expert one-to-one mentoring of staff.

Finally, we offer a facilitator development program for colleagues wishing to develop their skills as teacher educators. We work closely with other arms of STEM learning including the computer hubs, STEM ambassadors, STEM club champions and the national STEM centre where nation-wide residential courses are held. We deliver other STEM learning initiatives such as supporting schools on the DfE priority school or triple science lists. A number of the boroughs we work with currently receive science CPD through a subscription model where all schools in that local authority or education partnership receive their science CPD as part of their subscription.

If you are in North or East London and looking to support and develop science in your school, we will be able to help.
